It is with great pride that Skanda A/S can now share the fantastic news that we have been awarded a 8-year framework agreement for forging and welding work at Energinet's gas storage facility at Lille Torup. The agreement is an expression of confidence in a solid and competent organisation in Skanda, which has extensive and broad knowledge of the energy industry, green infrastructure, gas storage, gas and hydrogen supply.
The agreement is supported by the turnaround Skanda has been undergoing over the past year. A process that is worked on systematically and persistently on a daily basis, as required for this type of agreement with the country's largest energy transmission company with infrastructure within electricity and gas.
The natural gas storage facility in Lille Torup consists of seven salt caverns and a process plant with associated compressor, filters, etc. The salt caverns are underground cavities created by flushing out the natural salt domes in the area. The caverns are located approximately 1,500 metres below ground level with a volume of approximately 500,000 m3.
In connection with operation, maintenance and ongoing projects at the gas storage facility, there is a continuous need for forging and welding work. Work where Skanda, as a specialised welding company, can contribute with competent knowledge and experience on gas pipes and help the customer achieve the green transition.
The agreement includes design, welding and installation of steel and PE pipes, tanks, vessels, structures, etc. for natural gas, brine and fresh water. The design pressure for steel pipes can be up to 220 barg.
The QHSE level of the work is of the highest class. Quality assurance of materials and manufacturing is with full traceability, which is e.g. verified by the Danish Safety Technology Authority for construction approvals and commissioning. This part is handled by Skanda in close co-operation with, and in the presence of, Gas Storage Denmark's technical coordinator and their competent team on site. The HSE part is also a top priority. In consultation with Gas Storage Denmark, we work continuously to find the best and safest solutions, where Skanda can contribute with competent experience in safety, environment and quality. Expertise gained through many years of working in the oil and gas industry.
